After years of taking week-long diving vacations and hearing "if only you had more time, you could see..." and "things have really changed, you should have seen these reefs back when..." and "this is great but have you ever been to..." we decided to borrow time from our retirement and take a 6 month Sabbatical now. 

Our primary focus is experiencing the world's healthiest remaining coral reefs, while we are still able to dive safely. So we organized our trip around the 

, a crucial region for biodiversity and reef-building corals especially. There are many other places in the world we'd love to dive - recommendations welcome! 

Scuba diving in the cooler Galapagos waters warranted dry suits, no need for this trip!

 in San Bruno. The duck is very good, the griddle-cooked lotus root is excellent, but the fried shrimp is out of this world.
