Our final stop before returning to diving was an all-too-brief visit to Kuala Lumpur (KL) to see our dear college friend, Su San, and her family. 

After a longer trip last year to celebrate Su San and Chee Tat's wedding where we visited many of the major KL sites, we got a little more creative this time.

Su San took us to MinNature Malaysia, a museum of miniatures! This is the passion project of a small group of dedicated artists who worked for years recreating scenes of Malaysian food, culture, and architecture. It was great fun to see some familiar sites from previous visits and get a taste of other places we hope to see on future trips. This was Su San's first visit to the gallery as well, so we didn't know what to expect, but we were blown away by the huge number of miniatures and the incredible attention to detail. We left after about 90 minutes not because we had seen everything but because our heads were spinning.

The next day we visited Su San's local recycling center and joined a workshop on up cycling plastic bags into Mid Autumn Festival lanterns. As an environmentalist, this place is close to Su San's heart, and she even took her engagement photos here!

Finally, the highlight of our visit was joining Su San's family in their Mid Autumn Festival celebrations! Our new lanterns joined more traditional (and less traditional) lanterns. Here we are with Su San and her husband, Chee Tat.
