Day 3: Metro Magic and Gentlemen’s Clubs

We nailed the Lisbon Metro to the airport for just €1.85 each—budget travel pros, right? After a shuttle ride from the airport to the plane so long we thought we were heading to a rental car agency, we finally boarded. Pro tip: always check the seating chart—Rob didn’t, and played salmon swimming upstream when they had boarding from the front and the rear.

Munich greeted us with cold weather and a hotel experience straight out of a budget horror flick. No towels, a bag over the smoke detector (we’ll let you guess why), and aromas that weren’t quite Bavarian. Bonus? It’s above a “gentlemen’s club.”  Dinner saved the day: Sichuan noodle soup with enough chili to spice up our otherwise frosty welcome.

After a night of strip club bass and street sweeper serenades, (Lesson Learned: Always check Google Street View) we faced the icy Munich drizzle.  Rob’s shopping errand became an Olympic sport on slick sidewalks, and we decided the best way to embrace the cold was… not to. 

A cozy lie-in led to an early dinner of pork everything at Münchner Stubn. Kim’s Schweinbraten? A masterpiece. Rob’s Schnitzel? Equally impressive. Laundry and trip planning wrapped up our chill day—literally.

Noise-canceling headphones and earplugs finally delivered a decent night’s sleep. After a brief boarding pass panic (no middle names, no problem!), we packed up, bid “Auf wiedersehen" to the gentlemen downstairs, and hit the airport. Munich might not have been our warmest stop—figuratively or literally—but it was memorable. 

Yes that is EIGHT cranes in one photo, our entire neighbourhood was under construction.

We can't give an honest rating for Munich. The train gets a 5, the pork and spicy noodles were very good, so Food gets a 5 too.
